Life's a Beach!

Hello everyone! So before I talk about my day today, I MUST tell you about my experience last night. That's right, I'm talking about the Beyonce concert, the Mrs. Carter Show! Beyonce fans took over L.A. Live as Queen Bey rocked out at the Staples Center for the first stop on her world tour. As a huge Beyonce fan, I had been looking forward to this concert for months now, and I had an incredible time!

Having a blast with my friend Avery at the Beyonce concert!
Beyonce performed both old and new hits, including a Destiny's Child throwback that brought everyone to their feet. You could feel the girl power running through the arena, emphasized by the mega-talented all-female band! Between the amazing setlist, the sexy choreography and the stunning theatrics, I could barely control my excitement (....okay fine, I didn't control my excitement-I was screaming so loud I lost my voice). The Mrs. Carter Show was a great concert, and I am so glad that I got to experience it!

...and now for my day today!

Today I took part in one of the most classic summer/SoCal pasttimes-I went to the beach! A few friends and I trekked over to Venice Beach for some good ole' fun in the sun.
My friend Katie and I at Venice Beach today!

I got to hang out with my friends, enjoy the beautiful weather, and catch up on some summer reading! Today I read a bit of one of my favorite books, Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert. I have not decided what I want to do tonight, but in all honesty, I might just hit up my good friend Netflix, and see if he has any suggestions for me ;). Wishing everyone the best!

Xoxo,

P.S. I've been meaning to say this on my other posts, but if anyone has any fun suggestions for me, (movies to watch, music to listen to, attractions to see, events to attend, etc...), post in the comment box below! I'd love to hear from you!

All Hail The Queen

Hello everyone! I am just going to write a few words and then go to bed because I am exhausted! Long story short, tonight I went to the Beyonce concert at the Staples Center, almost collapsed of excitement, shed many tears, and screamed until I could scream no more. For those who haven't figured it out by now, I am a HUGE Beyonce fan. I will post more about the concert tomorrow, but for now, goodnight!

xoxo,

Adventure Awaits

Hello! So, today was the first day of my new "chapter," and I'm sad to report it wasn't that eventful. I ate leftovers, watched a movie on Netflix, cleaned my kitchen, and then Skyped with a good friend. However, it was the Skype call that gave me inspiration to blog today. My friend Sam is jetting off to Nicaragua for nearly a month, just because he wants to! While talking to Sam about his upcoming trip and the adventures that await him, I realized that it's up to me to make my own adventures. I need to be proactive and seek adventure; I can't just wait around for it to fall in my lap! So starting now, I am declaring every day an adventure. I am chasing my hopes, dreams, and goals to new heights. And I can't wait to share my journey with you!

xoxo,
Veesass

New Chapters

Here it is, my first blog post! I have been contemplating creating a blog for a while, and I finally decided to go for it. Here's a little bit more about me, in case you were wondering.

My name is Vanessa, but a lot of people call me VSassy, or Veesass (hence the title of this blog). I am a college student majoring in print & digital journalism at the University of Southern California, and in the fall I will be entering my junior year. Although I go to school in Los Angeles, I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, so I like to say that I rep both coasts.

Writing has been a passion of mine since I was a kid, and hopefully I can spend the rest of my life doing what I love the most-yeah, that'd be pretty awesome. In addition to writing, I love reading, volunteering, and traveling. I also enjoy shopping and playing soccer as well as hanging out with friends in my free time. I am always down for an adventure, so it goes without saying that exploring new things, whether it be music, food, or culture, is right up my alley.

As for why I started this blog....well, why not? I love to write, and I love to try new things, so it only makes sense to try something I've never done before that involves writing! It is also a very special day for me, and a great day to try something new...that's right, it's my birthday!! Hello Twenties, it's nice to finally meet you :)

Recently, a very close friend of mine reminded me of something very important: Sometimes, you have to close one chapter in order to begin a more exciting one.

I am currently starting a new chapter in my life--Today, my twenties, and in a couple of months, a new school year with tons of new adventures in store for me. I want to share my experiences with all of you. So without further ado, here are the memoirs of a Veesass.

xoxo,
-V
