Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello Everybody!
Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year, filled with joy and happiness and, most of all, surrounded by people you love. I am home with my amazing family and having an amazing time!  I honestly have so much to be thankful for, I don't even know where to begin! I have to give thanks for chai tea lattes and magazines, for Girl Scout Cookies and boy bands (holla at me One Direction), Netflix and foreign accents, and especially for Justin Timberlake. These are a few of the things that make me realize how blessed I am in life!

Just kidding, just kidding, OF COURSE I have way more to be thankful for than Channing Tatum's abs and the December issue of Cosmopolitan. Here is what I'm truly thankful for in life...

I am so thankful for my family and friends, who support me through everything; I am so thankful to be studying what I love at my dream school (GO USC! FIGHT ON TROJANS); I am so thankful for all of the opportunities I have been given in my life; and, I am SO thankful for all that is in store for me! Okay, now it's your turn! What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving holiday?

Ready For The Weekend(er)

Hi everyone!!
This weekend I went on a road trip up to the Bay for the annual USC Football Weekender. The USC Trojans were playing the Berkeley Bears, and hundreds of USC students, alumni, and fans swarmed San Francisco in packs to enjoy the Weekender festivities.
Fight On Trojans!

I had a bit of an alternative Weekender, because I did not even go to the game (diehard fan right here). Instead, I explored the city with my wonderful tour guide/boyfriend Sam. My less than perfect (okay, HORRIBLE) navigation skills got us lost more than once, but I got to see some of San Fran's greatest sites, and despite me freezing my butt off because of my refusal to wear leggings for the sake of my outfit (rookie mistake), I had an amazing time in San Francisco, and I can't wait to go back!

Halloween 2013

Hello everyone!
I hope that you all had a fun and safe Halloween! This year, I dressed up with a group, and we all dressed as different "chasers." I dressed up as the Morton Salt Girl, and ran around with my lime partner to assist with tequila shots and garnish margarita glasses everywhere. Here is a photo of all of the chasers together before going out!
Chasers 2013: Coca-Cola, 4Loko, Red Bull, Lime and Salt
I absolutely love costumes, and I love getting creative on Halloween. My costume was simple to create, yet the result was pretty great if I do say so myself! Here is a close-up of my costume!
In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut salt and no other girls can say anything about it.
I saw a lot of creativity this Halloween, and now I want to hear from you! Comment on this post to tell me what you dressed up as this year, or link to a picture of your costume! I hope you enjoyed reading about my Halloween, and I hope yours was Spook-tacular!

My Crazy Beautiful Life

Hi everyone!
Here I am again, so many blog posts behind that I can't even count them! It's been a really busy month, so I haven't had much time to blog, but I do want to take the time tell you all about my weekend, because it was chock-full of excitement!
Last weekend was Trojan Family Weekend at USC, which means there were tons of fun events going on, both on and off campus. On Saturday I went to the USC football game with my boyfriend Sam, and we cheered the Trojans on to a 19-3 victory. Fight on Trojans! We also had a super-cheesy-but-still-pretty-darn-cute photo shoot at a tailgate before the game. Here are some of the pics!

Fight On!
On Sunday, I got married!!! JUST KIDDING I DID NOT GET MARRIED, but I did get to wear a long white gown for my sorority Presents ceremony. Presents is the formal ceremony where the newest pledge class of a sorority is "presented" to friends and family. I had so much fun at my Presents, and I was surrounded by my friends, family, and of course, all of my ADPi sisters! Here are some fun pictures of my sororities' Presents ceremony!

I also had a really exciting moment for my aspiring journalism career over the weekend! Two of my articles were published in the newest issue of Campus Circle newspaper (Vol. 23 Issue 20)! The first article is my interview with pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne, and the second article is my guide to throwing an epic Halloween party! I had so much fun writing both of these articles, and seeing my articles in print always brings the biggest smile to my face! I truly love writing, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to write stories on topics that are fun and interesting to me through my internship with Campus Circle. I hope that I will be able to continue this line of journalism and have a successful career doing what I love. I just have to keep working hard, and not listen to anyone who tells me I'm not good enough. Most importantly, I have to never, ever, give up on my dreams!

I'm published, y'all!
This weekend was amazing for a million different reasons, but the main reason why I had such an incredible weekend is because it reminded me of how truly blessed I am to have such amazing family, friends, and fun experiences in my life. Sometimes things can be super-busy and hectic for me, and in those moments I often forget to take a step back and appreciate how much love and support I have in my life. This weekend was my wake-up call, and now I will make an effort to stress less and appreciate more. I hope you enjoyed reading about my weekend, and I can't wait for you guys to see what I'm up to in the next few weeks!

Date Night!

Hello everyone!

Oh my goodness, has it really been this long since I've posted on here?! I am ridiculous! So much has happened in the past few weeks that there is no way I'm going to be able to tell you everything I've been doing, so I'll just focus on last weekend!
On Friday night, my boyfriend Sam and I went to my sorority invite! It was so much fun! We went to a club in Hollywood and danced the night away! This is Sam and I all dressed up before leaving for the venue-- the theme was "Adpis and Bowties," and we looked pretty sharp if I do say so myself!

On Saturday Night, Sam and I checked out the restaurant Wockano downtown. We had an amazing time here! We tried On Saturday Night, Sam and I checked out the restaurant Wockano downtown. We had an amazing time here! We tried  their speciality "Late-Night Party Roll," and some other sushi rolls, along with a few of their speciality drinks, and they were all delicious! Here's a pic of Sam and I after stuffing our faces with good food.

On Sunday morning, Sam and I joined some friends for a lovely brunch at one of my favorite spots around USC, Bacaro L.A. I had "The Heart Attack" breakfast sandwich, which is basically a bacon and egg sandwich on a donut (hence the name of the sandwich). I also had quite a few bellinis, so needless to say, I was a happy girl at the end of brunch ;).

It was a great weekend with my boy, and the perfect end to September. Here's looking forward to a month of new adventures!

A Day in the Life of a Trojan

Hi everyone!
Happy almost humpday! I want to update you on my weekend, which was a blast! On Thursday night (yes, in college, weekends start on Thursdays) I went to my first sorority mixer. Well, that's not true...I've been to a million mixers before, but this was my first mixer as a sorority woman. The theme was Risky Business, and things got "risky," that's for sure. Here are some photos from the night!

Saturday was USC's first home game! The SC Trojans played the Washington State Cougars, and even though the score was not the outcome that I wanted, I still had a great time tailgating and showing my school spirit. I will always have pride for my team, no matter what the score is. FIGHT ON TROJANS!

It was a great weekend, and has made me even more excited about the upcoming semesters. Between mixers, gamedays, and classes, I am bound to have many more fun stories about my junior year.

My My My Little......

Hello everyone!!
I've been pretty busy the first couple of weeks of school, but I have some exciting news! Last Sunday I accepted a bid from the Alpha Delta Pi sorority! I am now an Alpha member of the Alpha Psi chapter of ADpi! I'll tell you a little about my bid night, aka the most fun night of the year!
pre-bitch run photo-op
At USC, it is tradition that on the last day of rush, all of the potential new members show up to campus in a white top and jean shorts. After you receive your bid card, you gather with your new sisters and run to Greek Row (this affair is nicknamed the "Running of the Bitches"). When you arrive at the row, your new sisters are all waiting for you at your sorority house, and you celebrate the night away!
Bid Night Festivities!
This year, ADPi had a ferris wheel, In-N-Out, and a dance floor. I had a great time with my "Violet Sis" Harleen, and after it was all over, I had the best bid night ever. I am so excited to be a part of this great sisterhood, and I can't wait to tell you all about my new adventures as a sorority girl (I've already started an ADPi pinterest board....oh lord).

End of Summer

Hello everyone!
Today is the last day of summer, and it's bittersweet to say the least. On one hand, I am so bummed that vacation is over; when I think of all the future midterms, papers and finals that I will have to study for, I just want summer to go on forever and ever! On the other hand however, I am super excited to see all of my friends again, and enjoying everything about my junior year. I have so much to look forward to this year, so even if I can't sleep in all day and party all night, I'm still excited as ever.
I begin my junior year at USC tomorrow. WOAH...a junior?!?!!! Where on earth did my last two years go? I've had so many amazing memories already, and that's why I know that this year is going to be epic. And I can't wait to share my adventures with you!!

Road Trippin'

Hello everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while! I really gotta get better at this daily blogging thing. At the end of July I went on vacation to NorCal, so I wasn't able to post for that week, but I am excited for you to read all about it now!

Sam and I are all smiles in Wine Country!
The last week of July I flew up to Santa Cruz to visit my main squeeze Sam. I got to celebrate Sam's birthday, see his hometown, meet some of his friends, and then we drove to Wine Country for the weekend (can you say ROAD TRIP!!). After an unforgettable weekend with Sam's family, I spent the last few days of my trip in San Jose with my Godmother and Godfather. I'm back in Los Angeles now, and about to wrap up my internship for the summer next week! Here are some pics from my trip to Santa Cruz so you can see just what I was up to! Enjoy!
fun times from our road trip!

I hope you enjoyed the pics, and I promise to update the blog more frequently! Best wishes everyone!

Catchin' Up

Hello everybody!
WOAH WOAH WOAH. It's been over a week since my last post. NOT COOL! Bad Veesass!! I've been super busy and haven't been able to post as much as I've wanted to, but I'm back on track! And so now, you're going to hear about my past week as quickly as possible! Okay, so let's rewind to last weekend...

Friday, July 12
My friend invited me to a taping of "The X Factor!" We were told to dress up in "upscale attire," so we went all out! And then we show up and realize we were the 1% of the crowd that decided to follow the "dress-code". Here we are, standing outside in broad daylight in our bandeau skirts and pumps, and everyone around us is in jeans and sneakers -___- . Lucky for us, when we got inside, we were seated right in the very front of the center section! All of the judges walked right past us to get to the stage, and the cameras were on us for the whole taping! So it turns out that our cute outfits went to use! The taping was super fun and I can't wait to watch myself on TV!

"The X Factor" taping!
Cow Appreciation Day
Later that day, my friend Katie and I took advantage of Cow-Appreciation Day by dressing up AGAIN--this time in cow spots--and heading to Chik-Fil-A for some free food! The guy at the counter had a cowbell to signal next orders, I blended into the wall, AND I got free fries. What's not to love!
Saturday, July 13
Saturday, I went to a darty with some friends! It was super fun, just a great day in the sun at one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people. Later that night a few more friends joined in on the fun and we all went out to a frat party at my school's Greek Row. All around, it was a day stock full of "classic college memories," as I like to put it ;)

Monday, July 15
Me and Jessi Malay!
Monday afternoon, I had the pleasure of interviewing singer/dancer Jessi Malay for my internship at Campus Circle Newspaper. This girl is super talented, and also such a sweetheart! I won't give too much away until the article comes out, but watch out for this girl, she's gonna be a star! For now, check out her new music video "Bougie," and follow her on social media!

Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to catch you guys up on what I've been doing for the past couple of days! And there's even more in store for me in the next few weeks! :)

Crossroads

Hello everyone! This post has taken me forever and a day to write, and because my life is a constant struggle, right before I was about to post the blog, my internet connection stopped....and the whole draft got deleted. If this post wasn't so important to me I would have just given up, but I really want to share this with you, so here I go again.

I've basically been pondering life all day because of something that happened to me last night, but before I get into that, you'll need some backstory....

Some friends from the Disney Cruise of Summer 2008
It all starts with a combination of two of my family's favorite things; cruises, and Disney movies. When I was growing up, my family would go on a Disney Cruise almost every year for vacation. My brother and sister and I would all hang out in the teen club, and make friends with kids from all around the world. One of the best Disney Cruises that I can remember was one that we took in the Summer of 2008. That year, I got really close to some of the people in the teen club. We hung out all the time, and I made some great memories with even greater people. However, like all good things do, the cruise eventually came to an end. At the end of the week, we hugged it out, exchanged contacts, and said our goodbyes. Then we all went home and that was it. Or so I thought.

FAST FORWARD TO LAST NIGHT

Richard and I-look how much we've grown in five years!
Last night I went out to a frat party near my school, nothing out of the ordinary at all. I was dancing with some friends when I noticed a guy waving at me to get my attention. It took a few seconds for his face to register in my head, and when it did my jaw immediately dropped in shock. It was one of my best friends from the Disney Cruise of 2008! I spent the rest of the party with my friend, catching up on our lives, reminiscing on old times, and freaking out that we were actually having a reunion. At the end of the night, we hugged it out and exchanged contacts, but this time, instead of saying goodbye, I said "see you later." I don't know when "later" will be-it could be in a few weeks, or it could be in another five years. All I know is that it is definitely not goodbye.

I have spent all day thinking about last night's little reunion, and every time I think about it, I start to smile and my heart feels warm. What happened to me last night made me realize that you truly never know when someone is going to fall back into your life. I have made a lot of friends from all over the world-through things like cruises, summer camps, concerts and clubs I'm involved in-and I have said a lot of goodbyes that left me wondering if I would ever see certain people again. Well I don't have to wonder anymore, because last night I got my answer. Everyone takes different paths in life, but sometimes, if you're lucky, you get to cross paths with someone you've missed (even if you didn't know missed them until they were back). And even if you don't, you just have live your life as best you can, and trust that your path will take you to where you need to be.
Shit just got deep.
I know this was a long, semi-emotional blog, but last night's encounter really got me thinking about life and all of it's quirks. One last thing before I sign off; I want to dedicate this post to all of the good friends that I have not, or will not see in a while. I've had some of the best moments of my life with you guys, and those memories are what keep me smiling every day. I love you guys, and just remember that goodbyes may be tough, and sometimes they suck, but goodbyes aren't forever. I'll see you later.
xoxo,
Veesass
